BUSINESS AS USUAL: Women vendors in Sierra Leone and Liberia Border Region
The sound you are hearing is the sound of traditional percussions played by the village elders, I recorded in Liberia.
Before the Ebola outbreak, I crossed the border from Liberia's lofa-mano national park to Sierro Leone's Kenema, and visited villiages along the way. These are the vendors I have encounted in this region, women and children.
Since the Ebola outbreak I was told this area suffers the most and life there hasn't been the same. Ebola surely will have an economic impact. Are people still selling the same way? Does life go on as usual with the fear of Ebola spreading? I do not know the answer, but this is what 'Business As Usual' looked like before.
The peace in ordinary living ought to be cherrished! It is especiallly precious to post war countries such as Sierra Leone and Liberia.
